@colignylaurent Cookies for Comments is very similar to my plugin. It should be able to kill 95-99% of the spammers dead in their tracks.

@colignylaurent In the mean time, try installing Cookies for Comments. That should help quite a bit if you aren't running it already.

@colignylaurent Just a release of code from my own site. I don't use BuddyPress or allowed others to login, so not stuff I've thought about.

@colignylaurent It's intended for comments only, although I'm not adverse to adding support for other things if it makes sense to do so.

@colignylaurent It doesn't protect the login form. I don't think it would be very useful with BuddyPress either.

@simonwheatley And when I stored them, I could do it all in one hit perhaps to save on queries.

@mkjones Thanks. That's not too bad (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/chat/). It does use it's own tables though, which I'd rather avoid if possible.

@socialspace If you can, use both at the same time. They're complimentary.

@bronsonquick @tellyworth Major advantage of raw Akismet, is that it works without Javascript on.

@bronsonquick Yeah, I've never resorted to CAPTCHA's before. I've been told by some people that they need them to block all spam though.

@bronsonquick Combo of Akismet and "sporting methods" like mine, tend to blitz all spam entirely in my experience.
